1 lb frozen bread dough, thawed [Frozen]
4 oz sweet Italian Sausage [Meat]
¼ cup chopped onion [Vegetable]
2 cloves garlic, minced [Dry Goods / Spices]
¼ tsp dried basil [Dry Goods / Spices]
¼ tsp dried oregano [Dry Goods / Spices]
½ cup Italian style tomato sauce [Misc.]
½ cup shredded Mozzarella cheese [Dairy]
2 tblsp grated parmesan cheese [Dairy]
1 egg [Meat]
2 tblsp milk [Dairy]
Recipe Directions:
Divide dough into 8 portions. Heat a large skillet over med-high heat; add sausage. Cook until brown and crumbly: drain fat. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Stir onion, garlic, basil, oregano, and tomato sauce into skillet. Simmer for 10 minutes. Roll each dough piece into a 5 inch circle. Spoon sausage mix onto each circle; sprinkle with cheeses. Moisten edges of dough with water. Fold dough over to enclose filling Use fork tines to seal. Place onto greased cookie sheet. Beat egg with milk. Brush over calzones. Bake for about 15 mins until golden brown. Serve immediately.
